This was my first medical mission trip and I was fortunate to be working along side a great team of collaborative and helpful individuals!  People on the team were willing to meet with me virtually prior to the trip so I could learn about the region, culture, and how mental health issues are perceived in Kenya.  Our mental health team of 6 taught stress management techniques such as mindfulness, guided imagery and breathing techniques and we met with individuals and families to address immediate concerns.  This rewarding experience reinforced the need for culturally sensitive healthcare at home and abroad.  The trip highlighted both the positive impact as well as the limitations of providing short-term healthcare in underserved communities. Hope this is what you are looking for! Warm regards,
